Materials: size 10 crochet thread, seed beads (42 for flower, 35 for star) 1.50 mm hook

Thread beads onto thread before starting 2nd side.  Beads are placed on back of sts being worked.

b/tr (US - b/dc):   yoh, insert hook, yoh and draw thread through, yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook, slide bead down to hook, yoh and draw through last 2 loops on hook.
b/dtr (US-btr):  yoh twice, insert hook, yoh and draw thread through, yoh and draw through 1st 2 loops on hook, yoh and draw through next 2 loops on hook, slide bead down to hook, yoh and draw through last 2 loops on hook.

2^nd side
Rnd 1:  Ch 2, (dc, 6 ch) 5 times in 1^st ch, ch 2, dtr in 1^st dc, turn.

2^nd side
Rnd 1:  Ch 2, (sc, 6 ch) 5 times in 1^st ch, ch 2, tr in 1^st sc, turn.

Place both sides together, matching up 6 ch loops and holding penny in between.  Work through both pieces.

Rnd 2:  Ch 1, 2 sc in 2ch/tr loop, 2 ch, (3 sc in next 6 ch loop, 2 ch) 5 times, 2 sc in 2ch/tr loop, slst to 1^st ch.
Rnd 3:  Ch 10, slst in 1^st ch (forms hanging loop), (7 b/dc in 2 chsp, slst between 2^nd and 3^rd sc’s of next 4 sc) 5 times, 7 b/dc in 2 chsp, slst to 1^st ch, fasten off and sew in ends.

Star

1^st side
Rnd 1:  Ch 2, (sc, 6 ch) 4 times in 1^st ch, ch 2, tr in 1^st sc, fasten off.

2^nd side
Rnd 1:  Ch 2, (sc, 6 ch) 4 times in 1^st ch, ch 2, tr in 1^st dc, turn.

Place both sides together, matching up 5 x 6 ch loops and holding penny in between.  Work through both pieces.

Rnd 2:  Ch 1, 2 sc in 3ch/tr loop, 2 ch, (4 sc in next 6 ch loop, 2 ch) 4 times, 2 sc in 3ch/tr loop, slst to 1^st ch.
Rnd 3:  Ch 1, [2 b/dc, b/tr, 10 ch (forms hanging loop), b/slst in 1^st ch, b/tr, 2 b/dc] in 2 chsp, *slst between 2^nd and 3^rd sc’s of next 4 sc, [2 b/dc, b/tr, 2 ch, b/slst in 1^st ch, b/tr, 2 b/dc] in 2 chsp, repeat from * 3 more times, slst to 1^st ch, fasten off and sew in ends.
