Shell Angel

Materials
DK yarn (about 15g, scrap sparkly thread/yarn),  25mm (1in) plastic curtain ring, 4.00mm hook.

Notes
Front Loops:
  these are the loops closest to you when working into a st, whether the front or the back of the stitch is facing you.
If you use a different sized ring you may need to adjust the amount of stitches worked into it.  Just remember to do the hanging loop half way around.

 

UK Instructions

Join yarn to ring with ss, 10 dc into  ring, ch 10, ss to 1st ch (forms hanging loop), 10 dc into ring, ss to 1st dc, turn.
Rnd 1: Ch 4 (counts as 1st tr and 1 ch), working in front loops of dc only, (2 tr, ch) in next 3 dc, turn, working into unused loops of dc already worked, (2 tr, ch) in next 3 dc, miss ss, working in front loops of dc only, (2 tr, ch) in next 3 dc, turn, working into unused loops of dc already worked, (2 tr, ch) in next 2 dc, tr in same place as 4 ch, ss under 4 ch.  (24 tr & 12 chsps)
Rnd 2: Ch 4 (counts as 1st tr and 1 ch), 2 tr in same place as 4 ch, (2 tr, ch, 2 tr) in next 11 chsps, tr in same place as 4 ch, ss under 4 ch.  (48 tr, 12 chsps)
Rnd 3 (Make Wings): Ch 4 (counts as 1st tr and 1 ch), 3 tr in same place as 4ch, 7 tr in each of next 4 chsp, (3 tr, ch, 3 tr) in each of next 2 chsp, 7 tr in each of next 4 chsp, (3 tr, ch, 3 tr) in next chsp, 2 tr in same place as 4 ch, ss under 4 ch. (94 tr)
Rnd 4: Ch 4 (counts as 1st tr and 1 ch), 3 tr in same place as 4 ch, miss next 4 groups of 7 tr, (3 tr, ch, 3 tr) in next chsp, (tr, ch, tr) in space between next 2 groups of 3 tr, (3 tr, ch, 3 tr) in next chsp, miss next 4 groups of 7 tr, (3 tr, ch, 3 tr) in next chsp, (tr, ch, tr) in space between next 2 groups of 3 tr, 2 tr in same place as 4 ch, ss under 4 ch. (28 tr)
Rnd 5:  Ch 4 (counts as 1st tr and 1 ch), 3 tr in same place as 4 ch, (3 tr, ch, 3 tr) in next chsp, (2 tr, ch, 2 tr) in next chsp, (3 tr, ch, 3 tr) in each of next 2 chsp, (2 tr, ch, 2 tr) in next chsp, 2 tr in same place as 4 ch, ss under 4 ch. (32 tr)
Rnd 6: Ch 3 (counts as 1st tr), 6 tr in same place as 3 ch, 7tr in each of next 5 chsp, ss to 3rd ch of 3ch, fasten off.

With front facing and holding hanging loop to back, work revdc in sparkly yarn/thread in the unused dc around the ring for the halo.  You can also work it around the edges of the wings and the bottom if you want to.

US Instructions

Rnd 2: Ch 4 (counts as 1st dc and 1 ch), 2 dc in same place as 4 ch, (2 dc, ch, 2 dc) in next 11 chsps, dc in same place as 4 ch, slst under 4 ch.  (48 dc, 12 chsps)
