Crochet Symbols in UK and US terms

If you can read symbols you can follow any pattern in any language providing it has a symbol chart.

I am starting with the more commonly used symbols for the simple stitches and will add the more complex symbols for combination stitches as soon as I am able. The plan is to add a few new ones each week, so please come back frequently to check for more.

	Double Crochet dc	Single Crochet sc	Insert hook in stitch, yoh and pull a loop through so that you have 2 loops on the hook. Yoh and pull through the 2 loops on the hook.
	Half Treble htr	Half Double hdc	Yoh, insert hook in stitch, yoh and pull a loop through so that you have 3 loops on the hook. Yoh and pull through the 3 loops on the hook.
	Treble Crochet tr	Double Crochet dc	Yoh, insert hook in stitch, yoh and pull a loop through so that you have 3 loops on the hook. Yoh and pull through 2 loops on the hook, yoh and pull through the 2 remaining loops on the hook.
	Double Treble dtr	Triple Crochet tr	Yoh twice, insert hook in stitch, yoh and pull a loop through so that you have 4 loops on the hook. (Yoh and pull through 2 loops on the hook) 3 times.

Increasing Stitches

Decreasing Stitches

Raised Stitches

Raised stitches are worked around the stem of the stitch in a previous row.
